Buying above the 52wk high would be correct.

My recommendation to buy GS is based on technicals only, but here is some fundamental info:

All of GS competitors are doing badly: MER BSC LEH etc. So this is effectively a flight to quality.

With the least damage in this credit market, GS is likely to attract more M&A and IPO activity.

GS is a very well managed company and they manage risk very well. Any time there is a crisis in the market and the stock is cheap, put some money into this stock.
