Prostate cancer is a bad example. Although the 5 year survival rate is noticeably higher in the US its because in the US, on the average you have earlier detection and the 5 year clock starts ticking earlier. Often with earlier detection you get earlier treatment and higher end survival rates but this isn't always the case with prostate cancer. The actual total survival rate isn't that much different (but the US still has an advantage)

But while prostate cancer is a bad example, cancer in general isn't. The US has better cancer survival rates than most other countries, often quite a bit better.
