I don't know that I'd say he's lying. The specific facts he quoted (5 year survival rates) might not be the most important or relevant fact for his specific condition, and also he didn't get them exactly right, but I don't think he was lying. He was just wrong. Than he takes those specific points, gets animated about them because they deal with something personal to him, and goes off with an invalid argument. Its rather common, and often involved little or no dishonesty, but rather bias and misunderstanding. Which doesn't mean he should get a pass on it, I'm just pointing out there is no evidence that his statements where lies.
