This ground has been plowed into dust, but the factors that lead to lack of respect for our will & resolve resulted in our interests being considered open targets. Clinton's foreign policy was only marginally better than Carter's, if at all. You have every right to think a time of great festering and growing unanswered threats was a utopian period, but your words leads me to believe you would not know the difference past your partisan bias. Either you understand we are and have been at war or you don't. Argue tactics all you want, but remember that when terrorists states feel free to openly support aggression against us again the death toll will pale in comparison with what is going on now. Osama bin Laden, who was in Africa at the time of the helicopter crash, has said in interviews that Mogadishu convinced him the U.S. military is a "paper tiger" which hides behind sophisticated technology and folds during gritty urban combat. Bin Laden has evoked the Black Hawk fiasco as evidence that guerrilla fighters can triumph over U.S. forces, particularly when thousands of peasants are prepared to give their lives in exchange for a few U.S. causalities. canada.com
