The wine was supposed to be dead. I looked through the bottle and it was surprisingly dark. I poured a little out and it showed brown. I poured a glass and tried to drink it, then gave up and popped the cork on the Palmer which was much more interesting. These are cast offs from my father's cellar. I also had a 1982 Pommerol last weekend from a minor label. It was ok and interesting but past its prime. This was one of mine. It had been better earlier. I went through my Bordeaux wines and culled out about three dozen bottles that are either expired or past their prime and decided to drink them over the next few months. I hope the 1980 Margaux and 66 Haut Brion are interesting. The 1976 Trotenoy is up soon.
