HERNDON, Va., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Nextlink Wireless, Inc., a leading provider of carrier-grade, alternative access solutions with fixed wireless spectrum covering 75 major metropolitan markets, today announced that Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC - News), a leading global IP solutions provider, will resell Nextlink's broadband wireless services nationwide.

The agreement will allow Global Crossing to utilize Nextlink's nationwide broadband wireless networks and services for high-capacity metro and last mile access solutions. Global Crossing will be able to leverage Nextlink's broadband wireless networks as virtual extensions of the Global Crossing network, giving it more direct access to its customers and increased local coverage in markets where Nextlink operates. With broadband wireless access solutions at speeds up to 622 Mbps (OC-12), Nextlink also offers Global Crossing a cost-effective, carrier-grade high-capacity local access solution and alternative to leasing local access facilities from incumbent local exchange carriers.

"Our agreement with Nextlink provides Global Crossing with an alternate access solution while expanding the reach of our Ethernet services throughout the United States with carrier-grade, high speed last mile access," said Dan Wagner, Global Crossing's executive vice president, Enterprise Sales and Collaboration Services. "This use of Nextlink's service will provide for our customers' ever expanding diversity requirements."

"We're very excited about this opportunity to work with an industry leader like Global Crossing," said Robert Beran, president and CEO of Nextlink. "Creating reseller partnerships is a key part of our strategy, and adding another major carrier to our program further validates the need and opportunity for alternative high-capacity local access solutions providers such as Nextlink."
