Hi Sig,
I think I am a good stock picker because I have had almost all winners. But maybe that is because we are in an up market and some of the radio financial analysts say you can throw a dart and get a company and make money.
But 1. I panic and sell too fast, either because something dips or because I think it has gone up too fast or too high. This is something I have to work on.
2.I can stand lots of risk, in fact its fun, but I have had days where I have sold or bought emotionally because of a crazy market day, and I have to work on that too.
Since I sold cocacola I dont care about dividends. (I had them reinvested anyway, but Datek doesnt do that, and I switched all securities from Fidelity to Datek.)
3.Are you sure about selling a newbie when it goes down 12%? One stock I have is only a $17 stock and that would mean just going to $15 would get it sold and that can happen in a bumpy day.
I like the idea about buying more as a stock goes up. If I'd done that with smod instead of selling as it went up, I'd have a lot at a good price. However, that requires having cash (or being secure enough to use more margin.) I'm not sure about that yet.
Thanks for answering. We all learn from each other, thats for sure. I was so raw when I began a few months ago.
