Ed, I have enjoyed your posts over the years. This one, not so much. Dont quit your day job now that the comedy writers are on strike. You aint that funny. As far as iraq goes, you certainly were more right than I was. But that doesnt mean your reasons are always right. Idealism is and should be a part of American FP. I would maintain it was idealism that led us to vietnam and iraq as much as any other reasons so there is a danger but the US without idealism as an important part of FP makes us like the pre-ww1 euro system of metternich and the like. You can see i am torn with this. You should be a little torn too and not so damn smug; and so should nadine. I think Gem is a clear thinker. I think he objects to western paternalistic views of islam and hopes that the pluralistic US can point to a third way. I dont like the right and I dont like the left. I hate michael moore and Rush limbaugh. There is plenty of room in the middle Ed. Join us there. mike
