I've been to a number of European cities, but not those 4. Its easy but not very meaningful. to cherry pick a few cities and compare them with an average from a large country.

OK Berlin might not be cherry picked, but I'm not so sure it really supports your case so strongly. It has some very nice areas but so do American cities.

Oh hell.......I have been throughout Europe in city after city. The smaller cities are even nicer than the ones I cited.....beautiful cities like Antwerp and Zurich and Avignon. Rarely, have I seen the kind of slums that the US has in its cities. The fact that you ignore this fact is an indication of how deep your denial is. I am sure you went to Europe looking to prove how worse off they are compared to the US. When I went I expected to see conditions much worse than the US. Much to my utter surprise things in some ways were better. Sure.....you don't see the opulence of a Beverly Hills or the Hamptons but then you don't see the poverty of a Southwest or South Central. Europe is by no means perfect but they have learned to assist their citizens in ways to insure their well being. That has been prevented here in the US by a particularly elitest group of people who control this country.
