He's trying to get our country back. :).
it ain't comin' back... it's gone and... it's just as well because it wasn't sustainable anyway. too much power and wealth was already grabbed by the greedy. that's how the game of monopoly works.
someone posted a link to a website that asks a few questions about your worldview and current political/social issues... then it points you to the candidate in the current field that most closely matches your views and concerns.
i tried it.
dennis kucinich was my closest match followed by mike gravel then bill richardson.
as usual, nobody who sees the world like me is ever going to be elected POTUS. i might as well declare myself a candidate and vote for ME. it would be just as useful as wasting a vote on a unelectable candidate who thinks like me.
usually i compromise (like so many other voters) and try to vote for the lesser of evils... then hope to make the best of it.
at our advanced age (or stage), even if we've only half-assed paid attention in class, it's obvious that most of what humanity and governments are doing right now is not sustainable... and they have NO PLANS for altering course because they can't bear to give up their "stuff".
1) the human population has passed the size that the planet can support... and we're not doing a damn thing to curb it.
2) fossil fuels are overused, polluting our air, soon to be depleted... and we're not doing a damn thing to transition to something better.
3) every country on the planet is dependent on every other country for its own socio-economic and judicial wellbeing... and we're not doing a damn thing to work together or develop a mutual governing body to set the rules on the playing field. (the United Nations is impotent and under fear-based attack from those who fear loss of "stuff" to the third world countries.)
bill clinton said in his first inaugural address, "there is nothing wrong with america than cannot be solved by what is right with america." he was dead ass wrong. he misoverestimated the level of consciousness of americans (or perhaps he thought he could raise it).
a battle cry for today might be, "there is nothing wrong with the world than cannot be solved by what is right with humanity."
and while it's true that we still have the capacity and the tools for the solution available to us now... it ain't gonna happen! ...unless all the present landlords, wealth barons and power holders drop dead tomorrow... and at the same time all us earthlings network together to "wiki us" in a collaborative, networked, educational problem solving project toward a sustainable and planet-friendly size of species.
"super-size me" is a fun statement for underdogs and it makes a good, flashy commercial but it's the road to perdition.
the fight is over (for me). over half the lemmings have already jumped over the cliff of no return. i'm not looking for a naive, undermanned cause or political candidate to support... it's too late for that... (at least for me).
all that remains of value in my life is... all that ever really had value in the first place...
1) an appreciation of the sunset on overconsumption 2) a fair amount of empathy and compassion for the suffering 3) a creative ability to express wonder, love and humor 4) a dedication to the value of acts of kindness to other living beings... and... 5) a soft touch of my brush on the canvas
