Oh, Sumz, it is so sad. These kids are gonna be so messed up; like a facter of 10 more than the kids in Nam. Longer tours of duty, everybody in-country is suspect, every object in the road a possible bomb, and so many troops are from the Guard, who probably don't have the psych training, limited as it is, that the military gets. It's a wonder any of them come home same. One of the guys who worked for me at the VA was a medic in Nam. He said it was 5 years before he could drive over a paper bag in the road. Once, while sleeping, a thunder storm broke out, and he grabbed his wife and rolled off the bed, pulling her on top of him, cuz he thought she was his flak jacket. Those poor kids and their families. |
