[TI chip and BCTEL launch]

<<< No news apparently on the TI chip. Apparently the luck is not favoring AMTX/WSTL at least in the short run. Was expecting a big bounce today but seems the stock will see decline for next few days. Long run though the stock should hopefully do fine.>>>

I'm still not sure why everyone's expecting press on the TI chip. JS said the two ends would be brought together on Oct. 9 and from what I've been told that's already been done. I know Amati's head engineer is at TXN right now for a chip review, so perhaps the date is significant in terms of what's happening there. I also know Amati's chip has been sent to key customers --- and you don't send one out that doesn't work.

As for BCTEL, I phoned my contact a few minutes ago and was told the CRTC's tariff approval gives them the go-ahead to do their launch. He said it will begin in "two to three weeks" and will involve press releases and news on the Internet.

When things are quiet, I remind myself of Gary Seaman's comment in the last quarterly conference call, "Just because there's no news doesn't mean there's nothing happening" --- or something to that effect.

Cheers!

Pat
