WW2 proves we can if we really want to destroy but i take your point. Though I agree with you on iraq and nation building, that doesnt mean that it cant be in our interest to fight a war for reasons of national interest even in iraq. You cant use vietnam so you can be a pacifist. There are wars worth fighting and if we cant build democratic institutions so be it.
