I know you are not a pacifist but your views are also shaped by vietnam. You make one point over and over again about our inablity to do nation building. But there have been places where our intervention has worked and political systems have evolved. Kosovo is an example. But i do take your point. My point is that there are times when the fact that we cant nation build shouldnt preclude intervention. Your objection is more that we should pick and choose better and not automatically use nation building as propaganda.
Iraq to me was an attempt to continue mideast momentum against al quaeda by picking a dastardly non-al quaeda regime to defeat. In bosnia and kosovo yugoslavia had already fallen apart. In iraq we collapsed the regime and now we are in the phase where the different groups vie for power. So you are right but not 100% and your logic is not 100% correct in applying this to lets say iran.
I should go back and edit this but have no time. I think you will understand what i am getting at here.
