"since we declared a war on poverty"
One Trillion?
(Is that all? I mean, damn... it's been, what? Forty years or so since the 'War on Poverty' was considered a 'hot war'? Hell, we'll blow at least One Trillion in Iraq in a good quarter of that time.... Anyway, when was the *last time* any 'battles' [new gvt. policies] were 'fought' in the damn thing? :-)
... Not saying that either 'war' (<G>) is ANYTHING LIKE 'well-spent money' of course! Nor the 'War on Drugs', the 'War on Obesity', the 'War on Terror', etc., etc.
In fact, pretty much the LAST well-considered 'war' I can think of was one that was PROPERLY, and CONSTITUTIONALLY, declared by the Congress, in furtherance of their Constitutional mandate... not any of these wishy-washy, slip-slide non-official SPIN JOBS. |
