Ramtron appoints ZLG to expand sales channel in China
(Business News, 01 Oct 2007 )

In an aggressive move to increase market penetration in China, Ramtron International Corporation, a leading developer and supplier of non-volatile ferroelectric random access memory (F-RAM) and integrated semiconductor products, has appointed ZLG to distribute its full range of products throughout China.

In 2006, Ramtron enjoyed dramatic sales growth in China, which represented two-thirds of all Ramtron sales in Asia Pacific. The appointment of ZLG is part of the company’s strategy to fulfil its sales growth expectations. Ramtron’s Asia Pacific business is expected to grow 50 percent by the end of 2007, and become the company’s largest in sales volume by 2008.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Hollabaugh, Ramtron’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales said, “We are very excited about the addition of the award- winning ZLG group to our already extensive network of distributors. We are confident that with our support, ZLG will expand Ramtron’s geographic footprint and increase the company’s presence in key industrial control, instrument, protocol conversion, POS, automotive electronics, and medical equipment accounts in the region. We fully expect ZLG to provide our existing and future clients with the highest level of customer service and support. Ramtron has tuned its product strategy to capitalize on emerging opportunities in China. Our unique non-volatile F-RAM products are being designed into a wide variety of applications and we will continue to focus our efforts on increasing our design-in activity in China.”
Chen Zhi-Hong, Vice President of Sales and General Manager at ZLG added, “ZLG is pleased to work with Ramtron to develop the industrial control, high-end metering, automotive, and intelligent security markets. Ramtron’s F-RAM products are an excellent fit for our markets and customers. The inclusion of F-RAM products into our comprehensive sales strategy will create a new product value chain for our customers. It is our target and mission to bring the most reliable products and best services to our customers, enabling them to enhance the quality of their designs and products effectively and reliably. Our aim is to provide customers with a completely guaranteed supply system. We see the sale of a product not just as a simple transaction but as a complex system, and at every level of that system we will offer the appropriate value-added services to bring real value to our customers. I believe the appointment of ZLG will help to create new and dynamic opportunities for Ramtron in the F-RAM market.”

As part of its launch strategy ZLG, in conjunction with Ramtron, will be conducting an F-RAM and MCU Application Technology Seminar tour of China. The tour starts in Shenzhen on October 10, 2007, and then moves to Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Chengdu, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai before ending in Nanjing on October 25.
The half-day seminars will be free-of-charge and are expected to attract up to 150 development engineers at each venue. The seminars will showcase new product developments from Ramtron such as the F-RAM-Enhanced™ MCUs and the Versa 8051 MCU series.

The seminar will discuss F-RAM application solutions in a wide array of industry sectors including power systems, communication monitoring, automotive safety, defence and military, industrial, financial systems, medical equipment, and metrology.

MCU challenges to be addressed at the seminars include industrial Ethernet, GPS security, protocol converters, CNC, 1.25M serial implementation, and the implementation of PWC in the measure of time and distance. Discussions will focus on how Ramtron’s VRS51L3074 and VRS51L2070 products can be implemented to help provide solutions.
