Currently the US is economically doing fairly well. Year by year the differences have only been small marginal ones one way or the other, but more up than down. Over time (generations) the changes have been clearly positive. Focusing on a few negative examples, when such relative poverty is not new or increasing in any significant way gives a very distorted and inaccurate picture.
