Wayne, i forget where i learned it (high school or college), but i learned that it is often easier to make the rules than to try and live by them.

your protestations are not unlike a communist that claims communism can work if the people in power weren't corrupt.
duh, they are *always* corrupt. it is the nature of self centeredness and power.
you hang onto the capitalist ideal much the same way a leftist hangs onto the communist ideal. the genius of our constitution is that it was design WITH DISTRUST IN MIND. it doesn't trust any level of government and designed "checks and balances." unfortunately, human greed (caring for oneself much greater than caring for other people) will eventually destroy any system (you didn't think jesus was kidding when said to care for others equal to oneself, did you?).
i'm not for bigger government. i'm sorry i don't play by your simple rules that govern your world view.
one thing that i am for is for the folks that own the most resources in the usa to pay *at least* that same percent in taxes for whatever total tax dollars is taken in. they benefit the most from the services of the military, so they ought to pay for the privilege.
they also ought to be decent enough people to realize how fortunate they were to be born into the right family, at the right place, at the right time, with the right brain genetic makeup, with all their limbs, not drug addicted, etc.
this isn't a political issue with me, it is a moral issue with me.
just like handing out welfare like bread should actually turn into some form of work fare for those who are deemed able. teach the person to fish. those mentally ill and drug addicted ought to be given some kind of help, too. the latter is difficult, though, b/c poor choices often lead to this kind of behavior. then again, chemical and hormonal imbalances can play a big role, too.
this is a much better way to steal our grandchildren's wealth than fighting phony wars and playing the moron on the world stage. oh yeah, it is a heckuva lot cheaper, too, so we would have to rape and pillage our grand children's wealth that much less.
btw, one down side of fighting this phony war is that it legitimizes iran in much of the world's eyes. "heck yeah they need nukes, otherwise, a bushevik could trump up phony charges and take them over."
yeah, a bushevik could do that b/c a bushevic DID DO THAT.
anyway, enjoy looking up at the looney... it wasn't easy to get into position to get this view. i bet the canadians start having skits about paying back their debt in USD.
