"Hypocrisy? Of what?"
Why that's easy....
The hypocrisy of constantly wailing about the 'low morals' and sexploitational aspects of media and popular culture, (not to mention all of this 'culture war' BS), all while running what is perhaps the *most* titillating and 'tits and ass' driven infotainment schemes of the four major American networks.
That's where the 'hypocrisy' comes in. <GGG>
(And, I mention this while standing fairly firm on the facts that are held in common: FOX holds the lead in FCC fines, and even the most cursory of glances at Murdock's other global media properties can pretty conclusively demonstrate that the American FOX network is not some lamb gone astray. Rather, it's probably among the most tame of his national networks on the world stage... yet still seems to display much of it's media 'DNA' in common with the other national properties: the market-leading position in inexpensive and very profitable 'info-tainment' type shows ['reality' or otherwise], which even extends to it's news coverage - with the heavy tilt towards covering the daily travails of Hollywood types, especially the shapely..., cross-promotion of it's own internally-generated talent [American Idol sorts hyped on most every in-network local news show... :-)], 'tits and ass' for the masses... albeit while ostensibly bemoaning the same....)
It's NICE to have your cake and eat it too! <GGG>
(It's so funny though that you jumped to the conclusion that I was actually complaining about the endless procession of shapely young women parading across my TV screen! [Or, I guess, that you would assume that it must be 'liberals' who were Puritanical! I can assure you, GZ, there is *zero* basis for the first conclusion... and but scanty evidence for the second, although I'll freely agree that the stain of Puritanical free-speech suppression is NOT confined to any one side of the political spectrum. :-) |
