FASB 157 Rule goes into effect this week, and will impact, judging from pundits I've read, "Level 3" Debt where the "other shoe" is residing on and off balance sheet.

I remember when Sarbanes Oxley went into effect, much ballyhoo, and not much bang for the buck around "effective on" date. As far as I can tell, most entities have kept on doing what they were already doing, on many reporting levels. Or did I miss an important S/O test case somewhere?

My point?

Since this meltdown (a descriptor I choose to use) is systemic in my view, I don't believe any earth shaking revelations are going to occur on or about the 15th in regards to FASB 157.

Therefore, I suggest it is not a date to hang one's "buy on the 15th dip" fantasy if one wants into the gold market, whether to establish initial positions or to add to existing.

FWISA...
