>>It's possible that some % of the people will always hate capitalism and some % of capitalists will always be corrupt enough to help put them in power to take advantage of the rest of us.<<

it isn't about hating anything. it is about leveraging what is for selfish gain. politicians don't hate capitalism. they love it as it gives them the opportunity to steal from the public from the public for personal gain. the latest theft scam happens to be from people not even born yet.

>>We had a very flawed banking system to begin with. That was a primary reason for the depression.<<

the root cause, well ahead of the flawed banking system, was greed. see the recurring theme here? selfishness and greed fed the more recent bubbles in stocks and housing, too.

>>Things are a little different now. The heavily socialized economies under communism proved their inferiority and eventually collapsed<<

i doubt most folks even understand the biggest flaw in communism. it assumes people are good and will do the right thing "just because." NOT! our system was superior for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that our founding fathers knew that people were selfish and greedy and set up the system to not fully trust one branch of government. current day spin and simple minds has done great damage to that concept as the president pretty much does whatever the heck he wants nowadays. not to mention the fact we lucked out and had plenty of natural resources and a number of enterprising people who founded this nation. summarizing, communism assumed people are good, the united states' government was set up under the assumption that people were corrupt and would offer balances should one branch become too corrupt.

>>We will never get rid of corruption. I'd just rather cope with private corruption using private resources than private corruption using corrupt government, adding another layer to the corruption, and having to pay taxes for it too.

The real and only issue is taking care of the people that weren't blessed with the skills, intelligence, mental/emotional health etc... to make it in a capitalist society. How to best do that without planting more weeds will be the key question after the western governments start defaulting and breaking their socialist promises. <<

they won't do much. the dems try and toss money at them to get their votes. the republicans don't really care, but may say nice stuff anyway. there are exceptions, of course, but it is mostly true. the poor are the powerless and few in government care about the powerless.

my guess is major war starts breaking out around the time of any kind of united states fiscal collapse or when transportation costs become extremely painful.

when the blood starts *really* flowing us, people will begin to realize just how bad selfishness is.
