I have seen other minor instances where Navigator would "apparently" freeze up for a minute or two, and then it would suddenly "wake up". This usually occurs when I have a 8 or 9 other programs running at the same time.

I tested that hypothesis the third or fourth time that happened to me by letting it set two hours. When I gave it the three-fingered salute and told Win95 to close the program it gave me the no-response-kill-it-anyway? box. So I think we can safely say that Netscape 4.0.3 does indeed lock up sometimes when starting Java the first time after invocation.

It doesn't happen every time, and if it doesn't happen on the first java-enabled page you visit it won't happen for that invocation.

It happened about a third of the time when I visited quote.com
