"Usually what is historically required for complete decoupling of XAU/HUI and SPX is for SPX to go down hard" (from a recent vt post)

I wish I could understand what you and vt are talking about here. Any historic chart that I have seen indicates that XAU has already "decoupled" from the S&P500, in that it has outperformed it in an unprecedented manner. Do you both expect this outperformance to continue, even to widen ?

My view is that "reversion to the mean" is more to be expected... I read a book by Ken Fisher recently in which he says that over time all properly constructed indexes will afford the same performance (revert to the mean). That makes sense to me... logically why would it be otherwise ? And that would imply, sell the outperformer and buy the underperformer.... to be consistent with historical reality. (The short term is less predictable LOL.... We could easily see a crash here in both or either)

(Have you any charts that refute my views ?)
