Socialism got a foothold long before the boomers, and much of this can be laid at FDR’s doorstep. Another pre-boomer problem was Korea and the failure of Congress to formally declare war. We’ve continued to follow this pattern and it has undermined public support for our military actions ever since. On the up side the boomers have done the most to eliminate racial prejudice, but socially became too permissive and finally became authoritarian in support of a leftist agenda. Our greatest failure as a generation wasn’t agreeing with the Leftists, but going soft on them. I’m mid–fifties.
