The Chinese are already experimenting with blending methanol into gasoline. It only requires a careful choice of gasket materials and hoses in the fuel system designed to withstand methanol to convert a spark ignition engine to use a gasoline blended with methanol. The Chinese are also big fans of using DME (dimethyl ether) in specially modified compression ignition (diesel) engines, which like Methanol-To-Gasoline (MTG), is also made by de-watering methanol. en.wikipedia.org
