I've come to the conclusion that the company isn't being driven to excel during the tough times. They rest on their laurels and wait around for the next boom.

I no longer invest in companies like Ixys. I strictly trade them. They appear to be run for the insiders only and I strongly believe that this is why they don't excel or even strive to excel. Insiders like to get their options cheap every few years. They don't mind the years of relative stagnation, as it allows them to fatten their coffers with cheap options.

To date, their announced buybacks have been smoke and mirrors. If they believed in their ability to excel, they'd have been buying more. This is another indication that they are simply playing the trading range game. Until such a time as they indicate otherwise, by actually sticking their own necks out with sizable buybacks, I'll keep my current opinions of the company.

Having written the above, I'll add that they have approached my buy point again. No position at this time but that may change soon. They have a very decent end market but I'm no longer surprised that they've been coming up short in the net income category. Too many times this has happened over the years (since I've been following the company) for this same issue to come as a surprise.

Best of luck with your purchase. I think you will do well if you have an intermediate to long term time horizon. Right now, I'm just being stubbornly patient. I want to buy it even cheaper then they are trading today. Too many other decent semi/IC companies, like IXYS, that have been shredded by the market lately, so I'm looking for the lowest possible entry points for longer term positions.
