It is urgent for workers and young people to prepare for the looming economic crisis. A fighting program that demands an immediate end to the war in Iraq, reversing budget cuts, taxing the rich and big business, a shorter work week without loss of pay, a guaranteed living wage, a free national healthcare system, international solidarity, and to bring the banks, oil companies, and big corporations under democratic workers’ control and management is absolutely necessary to defend the interests of working people.

We can not rely on the pro-war, pro-big business Democrats to defend workers as the economic crisis unfolds. We need to build a powerful movement on the streets and begin building a political alternative for workers and young people to the two parties of big business.
