Sonny,

I appreciate the opportunity to discuss the issue of the Fed and the markets with you. I believe an accurate understanding of market/economic fundamentals will help me recognize investment opportunities and avoid bad investment situations. I also believe I have a lot to learn.

I think the issue we need to deal with is not what we individually believe the Fed should do, but what they will do. The first is opinion; the second has a direct impact on the value of our investments.

Fact: Greenspan can't do his job without influencing the markets.

Fact: In the seven pages transcript of Greenspan's testimony before congress, I can only find one line regarding stock prices, and he did not say they are to high. He said, "Aside from the question of whether stock prices will rise or fall, it clearly would be unrealistic to look for a continuation of stock market gains of anything like the magnitude of those recorded in the past couple of years."

Do you really believe that the market is so fragile that Greenspan's comments could cause a crash? If so, why?
