am not looking for a fight here. Were you an admirer of stalin and the communists at one time in your life? as i understand things west was reactive to stalin and not the other way around. I agree with you on the larger point of the stupidity of fighting WW3 in 1946. We probably could have save more folks on the edges of the soviet empire if we were more focused but here in the US the vets were coming home, they were going to college thru the GI bill and one of the greatest economic stories ever told was at its inception. So as regrettable as soviet gulagization was, there is another side to it that allowed the west to prosper. Nadines alternative would have been all out war with few constraints on use of nukes and US would have had to use them to win I think.
