Perhaps with 65nm/300mm they are getting near that goal? I've never felt comfortable with SPSN being basically a one trick NOR pony. Perhaps SPSN sees an opportunity to gain some business while diversifying? With the Saifun merger SPSN should have the ability to do a lot of things it couldn't before. To me it looks like Bertrand is trying to kick SPSN into overdrive.
