I used to go to Tofino before it got expensive. There are still some campsites but it has really gone upscale.

If you're willing to spend, stay or at least eat at the Wickanninish Inn. I was once sitting there eating a very expensive gourmet meal with my girlfriend -- while we were staying in my rusty VW van at the nearby campsite LOL -- while watching through the panoramic windows humpback whales cavorting a few miles offshore.

And don't miss the cheese buns at the Common Loaf bakery, or whale-watching, or the hike on Meares Island, or the trip out to Hot Springs Cove, etc. etc.

An amazing spot for sure. LOTS of rain though.
