Samsung buying into a chip designer, Hyundai building satellite PCs..........

Samsung Electronics said that it will invest $700,000 for a 25-percent
share in Ko-Asia which a Korean will set up in Taipei, Capital of
Taiwan, this year.

Ko-Asia will design ASIC (application specific integrated circuit)
chips and input and output device chips for digital cameras, personal
computers, scanners and video CD players.

Hyundai Electronics Industries launched a new PC brand on the domestic
market, which can receive satellite broadcasting transmitted by the
nation's Koreasat1 and Koreasat2.

The satellite receiving PC, model named Multicap Master 9530, has a
166MHz CPU, 16MB memory, 2.5GB hard disk drive and 24x speed CD-ROM
drive. Price is 2.31 million won (approximately $2,500).
