And no, I never heard of Juneteenth and at the moment have polled my mailing list to see if anyone else has... I've discovered it's even an official New York State holiday (ceremonial only, whatever that means). I live in NY.

And I very much remember JFK's assassination and have visited the site 3 times. At that time it was still the Democratic Solid South. The Solid South flipped in the 64 election....why? So what was it about Reconstruction that so disturbed Confederates..?
