Democratic Party Presidential Election Game Theory Posted by Devil's Advocate
I have a theory that has been proven true. Over the last six months, the Democratic Party Presidential nominees have refused to really attack Hillary Clinton. They backed off dragging her through the mud because deep down they knew she was the inevitable Democratic Party Presidential nominee. The polls simply demonstrated that no matter what they said or did, their best individual outcome would be a close second place. In essence, they were running for Vice Presidential nominee.
Consequently, the Democratic Party candidates resorted to being nice to Hillary Clinton, and they all engaged in the “politics of hope.” Their main fear was that Hillary Clinton would win the election, and their attacks would still resonate with the American people when she went up against the Republicans. Their attacks would make her unelectable.
The Democrats, as much as they dislike Hillary Clinton deep down, they would rather have her (a.k.a. Bill) in the White House over any of the Republican frontrunners. It was game theory at work.
However, the game changed on October 30, 2007. Hillary imploded in front of the American people because she could not answer a simple question. Then her staff imploded in front of the media by planting Global Warming questions in the crowd to ask Hillary Clinton. (Rule #1: Let the MSM ask the questions; they are the “professionals.” Rule #2: Don’t ever forget Rule #1 if you want fair treatment from the media). Then, yesterday, Hillary changed her position again on illegal immigration. This was one of the worst political debacles I have ever seen.
Because of her abject incompetence, and lack of discipline to keep her mouth shut, Hillary Clinton is presently unelectable. Amazingly, the only person to blame is herself. Now the Democrats know the truth: If Hillary Wins the Democratic Nomination, the Republicans win the Presidency.
So, the next few weeks will be the most entertaining politics in decades; it will involve nothing but Hillary Clinton attacks. The Democratic frontrunners know that they must win the nomination if the Democrats have a chance at defeating the Republicans. Barrack Obama’s team has already started to “pile on,” and it is just brilliant.
“When it takes two weeks and six different positions to answer one question on immigration, it’s easier to understand why the Clinton campaign would rather plant their questions than answer them,” said Bill Burton, a spokesman for Obama.
John Edwards’ team already created shining video. The debate tonight will be very interesting to watch. I simply cannot wait.
