When Dell was just getting started in storage they were reselling the Data General boxes. DG was floundering, but made a good storage solution. DG was practically begging Dell to buy them out, but the mantra of the day was to squeeze suppliers, not buy them. EMC bought them and cut Dell's supply. This is about the third storage maker Dell has bought since then, but they never had a product that fit so well as the old DG units. Storage solutions are only as good as their backup strategy, I hope they got that covered. TP
