Not even potboilers? :) If good novels were being written would you read them? I understand the sentiment, there aren't many novelists worth reading right now, with the exception of Cormac McCarthy.

Walker Percy wrote novels for our time. His novels are the only ones I've ever thought were worth re-reading. He only wrote six, I just started his fifth one for the second time. His non-fiction is excellent too. He was a friend of Shelby Foote. The volume of their correspondence is a pleasure to dip into every now and then.
