No, it doesn't.

Sort of. In economics, it is often viewed as deferred consumption.

Now this is just getting silly.

Yes, there needs to be investments in infrastructure, raw materials, etc. to produce goods and to provide services. And without investments from either profits or borrowing, then things grind to a halt. But without consumption, you don't have an economy.

You know, I have had other pointless discussions with people who deify investment.

Are you by any chance a follower of the Austrian School of economics? Because you sure talk like one.

I am in computer engineering. If you had actually attended a university, you'd know that graduate students don't take courses in economics unless they happen to be an economics or possibly a business student. Or have an interest in it...
