The converse is similarly true.

My point is that as a society, America's assets far outweigh its liabilities....even to the extent that its net worth has never been higher. I would hazard a guess that there has never been a richer society.... despite all the emphasis on its liabilities. (But that reflects my attitude rather than any knowledge, just as I believe the doom-sayers' words reflect an attitude.)

Do you equate equate America's business with the (mis)fortunes of Ford and GM ?
