Alomax; Apple is better in it's niche, which is the graphics and music. It rapidly went and filled that nich to 90%. All the rest like wordprocessing, data base went Wintel. That is a bigger niche, and Wintel owns it. Even writers I know prefer Wintel for writing books due to better word processors for the Wintels. The graphics niche is under attack by Wintels as most software is sold for both platforms(not all, some major ones will not make for WIntel from love of Apple?) but enough over the past few years to shrink the niche in % terms, even as it grew in absolute terms.
It will make no difference to Apples growth if it cannot attack the WIntel nich for data bases, and word processors, as that is where the numbers are. It must have price for that as well as programs.
The internet niche already has a high % Apple on the composing end, and Apple has been losing that. The public niche for browsers is 90% Wintels, and Net/Web TV will also be Gates'.
Jobs will be OK as CEO if he just plays at it, and has others do the hard work. In other words be a front man. He has shown that he cannot work with people, he cannot do hard routine work of the sort that CEOs must do. So leave that to others and do a glory run and try to gather converts will be his only successful role.
