This is my final post on the topic. Right now the left is in control of the energy issue. They've got a whole host of ideas to change things based on very little solid evidence. I don't think WE are the only cause of greenhouse gasses. In fact, from what I've read, we're probably only responsible for a small fraction. That said, we are already looking at new ways of creating energy because costs of current energy sources is out of control. Let me make myself VERY CLEAR - I DON'T LIKE THE NUCLEAR OPTION! The problem is its one of our best (CURRENT) alternatives so its an option we're going to have to embrace for a while. The benefits are clear - it will reduce emissions from our energy plants AND it will reduce car emissions because the day is coming when we come home and plug our cars in! What we (as a party) need to do is take ownership (the lead) in energy policy. We need to fund energy research like we funded NASA and it will pay dividends. If the republicans take the lead in doing this they will own the topic and direction of energy policy in the future. By convincing the voters that we're doing everything possible to find better alternatives I believe we'll get the ok to drill in areas we currently can't AND we'll get the ok to build nuclear facilities. Changes are coming! We can either lead as a party or take a backseat. Right now we're pulling up the rear and the result is we have no energy policy AND the biggest impact on the topic of energy is coming from the left. The way to change that is to steal the topic. You can do this by trying to kick down the front door OR you can sneak around back and see if that door is unlocked. Currently we're trying to kick down the front and its not working! This is about the republicans becoming nimble on this topic and several others. Right now we're wearing blinders and we're flat footed and the result is we're about to get knocked on our ass. We need to take ownership and take the lead on this issue and several others or you and I wont need to talk politics because we'll be controlled by the left. I don't have the answers to our energy problems! What I do have are some ways (answers) that can improve the image of the party to put us in the lead in the arena of ideas. WE ARE NOT IN THE LEAD RIGHT NOW AND WE BETTER DO A QUICK MAKEOVER OR WE'RE GOING TO GET SMOKED IN 2008!
