That article be George Packer is so true and so scary. That I would ever live in country where the Alice In Wonderland parable becomes reality, greatly saddens me. The thinking by the republican candidates on Iran and Iraq reminds me of the same twisted logic used to defend segregation in the 60's. These vigorous defenses of torture, and unrestrained war mongering using twisted logic, as Podhertzs does, is just plain crazy. No other word describes what is going on better. This is true insanity. The great Eric Fromm once said: "the most neurotic person is he who adjusts successfully to a neurotic system. Nazism being a perfect example. The republican presidential candiates seem to be adjusting to insane thinking with great ease. All one needs to do to verify that is to look at the past statements made by Pat Roberston and James Dobson, both republican stalwarts and primary advisors of the right. The republicans in just 6 years have destroyed the military, the economy, the dollar, the social system and international relations in a way that would have seemed impossible just six short years ago!
