I gave up trying to explain folks on the Big Dog oil thread that oil prevailing costs is cheap because it is subsidized. I explained that if one included the cost of acting as the hire gun for Saudi, and protecting governments in the production areas the costs would be much higher.

My point was: subsidizing corn-based ethnanol, when compared to the true costs of the oil was a cheaper alternative.
