I didn't know China was invading any one back then but at any rate that is just a plain silly example and of course it is wrong. If a murderous and uncharming ideologue like Jay Chen was in charge at the border, he would have shot him in the back to stop him escaping, as he is in favour of shooting in the back children escaping from Tibet over mountains in the snow.
