Suit filed in scam with GunnAllen ties

The federal government filed suit Tuesday against a Michigan man whose allegedly phony investment vehicles ensnared as many as 1,200 investors, many of whom were recruited by former GunnAllen Financial broker Frank Bluestein. The Securities and Exchange Commission said that investors in Florida and six other states plunked down as much as $250-million on Edward P. May's fraudulent securities before the scheme was uncovered. In an interview, SEC official Peter K.M. Chan declined to comment on whether the agency was preparing a separate complaint against Bluestein or Tampa-based GunnAllen but said its investigation was "far from done."
