ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWN CONTINUES Illegal Immigration Interdiction Unit Arrests 10 More Near Wickenburg Phoenix, AZ Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Triple I Strike Force arrested two smugglers and eight illegal aliens this morning near Wickenburg, AZ, in a traffic stop involving a Chevy Suburban. Sheriff’s deputies stopped the Suburban and found that it was carrying two human smugglers, Francisco Francisco & Felipe Andres, and their human cargo. Francisco and Andres claimed to be legal permanent residents and stated they were en route to Stockton, California, with eight of their “friends.” Those friends admitted to paying between $300 and $2,000 to be transported to Stockton, California. Sheriff’s deputies arrested and booked the smugglers and seven of the illegals (coconspirators) on felony charges, under the Arizona human smuggling law. So far, 766 illegal aliens have been arrested by Arpaio’s deputies under this state law. The remaining illegal was processed under federal immigration law by Immigration and Customs Enforcement trained Sheriff’s deputies. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is and continues to be the only Arizona law enforcement agency arresting illegal aliens under all aspects of the state human smuggling law, and under federal immigration laws.
