A lot of people in our country didn't want to have anything to do with war in the last century but many died after being drafted. They served because they perceived it in their self interest, all things considered. They could have opted out but probably felt they couldn't live with themselves or would ruin their prospects in society if they did so they submitted to the draft. Another example of self-interest at work. We all make that call for ourselves many times a day. There are somethings we just have to do together as a society Because it is in our self interest to support a decent and civil society.
