Gee, now Reagan is a racist because he didn't veto a funding bill? This is getting ridiculous.
Where did I say he was a racist in that post?
BTW as a spending bill this would have originated in the House of Representatives, wouldn't it?
No. Funding is proposed in the president's budget.
Instead of making fruits and vegetables more interesting...they decided to find ways around the requirement that also saved tax [read GOP] monies. So very Republican!
How do you know the USDA's panel of nutritionists were Republicans? Hmm, you can't know that, so you just made it up. How very Democratic!
After 7 years of hell, I've learned there is a certain smell apparent when Republicans are tinkering with something. This whole "ketchup as a vegetable thing" reeks of that smell.
Did you ever hear of scurvy and ricketts?
I have and I know essentially no one in modern America has them. The biggest dietary problem for the American poor is obesity.
So how does the massive sugar in ketchup help obesity?
They are lucky to get any food at all...plus who wants to pay more taxes so they can good fruits and vegetables......I have my eye on a new Mercedes.
Who would be able to afford a Mercedes on the savings from this? No one. Just more demagoguery. How very Democratic!
Oh but you don't just cut back on their food.......you cut back on everything that has to do with the poor....and when you get done? Voila! A new mercedes!
Yeah, one where you are trying to save money and screw the kids.
The only guy in Washington I know that screwed kids was Gerry Studds, Democratic statesman from the People's Republic of Massachusetts.
Please don't make bring out the long list of GOPers who are into kids. It would take up too much bandwidth.
In the 90s, the Clinton administration got little grief when it proposed counting salsa as a vegetable, as properly made salsa has more nutritional heft than sugar-laden ketchup.
Of course not....do you know what's in good salsa? Onions, tomatoes, cilantro/Italian parsley, jalapenos, garlic, salt and pepper and no sugar. Salsa is a creative way to get kids to eat their vegetables........most kids like salsa. Please note the difference between a GOP administration and a Dem one.
Sorry, I don't believe there's that much nutritionally between the two things.
Yes, I know. Republicans don't know much about anything. However, when it comes to salsa, I know exactly what I am saying because I have made it numerous times.
Both are mostly tomato based. Other ingredients like onions, etc. are in some tomatoes and are gonna be minor elements in either product. The salsa served in schools isn't gonna be home-made salsa, its gonna be commerical commodity. As for the sugar in ketchup, big deal, how much ketchup are people going to eat.
They make commercial salsa nearly in the same way as home made except not nearly as fresh. Check the label on a salsa jar the next time you're at the market. Bottom line: its better for you than ketchup.
The big difference is for guys like you - Democrat = good, Republican = bad.
Exactly. Now you're getting it. And that bias is based on facts; not opinion. |
