I think we agree. I feel the same way about ADD as a "disease". I think it's simply another way of being, and it's probably very adaptive for certain environments, but not particularly good for highly regimented ones. When my son was in special ed almost everyone in the classes was male- now partly that may be a sex linked disease thing, but partly (I think) it's diagnosing certain aspects of "boyness" as a disease. That's a problem. I agree it all ought to be different, and we should nurture diversity more, since it is almost always diversity which saves a species in times of emergency- and you never now which diverse attributes will allow your species to survive. But it's hard to convince people of that. I'm game to try though :-)
