Amazon is going to a lot of trouble to make sure Kindle succeeds. It is pushing the device by making it very cheap to get books wirelessly. At about $10 a pop as compared to $25, there will clearly be a lot of users who will do without the sensory experience a book provides. Buying them for Kindle viewing will mean a 60% discount, which is not insubstantial esp. if one reads a large number of books If Kindle succeeds, it will be due to the reduced cost per book. Of course, once the Kindle is accepted and used, prices will go up. vbg
