I don't really read books anymore. I have found I prefer to listen. It is lazy? maybe. But often the reader is quite good at adding more character to the story. It also allows one to exercise while listening or relax and not have cramped musles, sore eyes or a stiff neck. I have enough of that reading computer screens.

Anyway I've listened to a few Patrick O'Brien and I am collecting mp3s of the series so I can listen in order. Currently I am listening too Richard Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell. Cornwell also authors books of historical fiction. I've Listened to the the Warlord Trilogy, about Arthurian England, Cornwell creates interesting human stories.

I would also recomment this url... fantasticfiction.co.uk I like fantasticfiction.co.uk as their layout by author let's one see all the books of an author by series. I like the layout.

I am also collecting mp3s of Clancy, I've already read all and I'm looking forward for to a listen.

Another addictive to me read is Vince Flynn and the Mitch Rapp series.
